You should be failed on those markers being red, I've seen it in black 
and white when I 1st had my D MOT'd.

Simple application of some masking tape over the lights is sufficient 
to pass the MOT, then you can take them off straight afterwards.

Also I have found that if you stay with the car while they MOT it they 
tend to look a bit closer at things.

Should only take seconds to cover the lights up and get a re-test.
