I'm sure I'll get some stick for this but for £5000 I'd get a BMW E36 coupe.  They still look great because that sort of classic design always will.

If you get one with the fantastic sounding straight 6 (320i, 323i, 328i etc) then you'll have a very fast and desirable car that will be extremely reliable as well.
