RE: [doc] RE: RHD cars - intrigued

Nothing wrong with that Mike!!

You could say it was France's answer to the Ford Cortina - and when did you
last see one of those in relation to the numbers made.

Good luck keeping it going - you may even find you can still get parts
through your local Peugeot dealer.

*      Okey doke.  Well frankly it's nothing that anyone could get
passionate about (unfortunately) but at the end of the day it's a 24 year
old car that's been in there for about half it's life as it was replaced and
my Dad didn't want to get rid of it (first new car he'd ever owned . . .
sentimental reasons . . . .etc, etc).

It is a 1981 Talbot Solara.  And before anyone dies laughing I'd like to
point out that I had it running recently and I swear the starter motor
sounds exactly the same as a DeLoreans.  Not just slightly but exactly the
same.  Maybe it's that the car's from the same era or maybe it's the same
part, I couldn't say.

Anyway, the thing's got absolutely no rust whatsoever and I've not seen one
on the roads for at least a decade and I'm hoping that one day I'll have it
running again as I remember from my childhood that it really is a smooth and
comfortable car.

I don't know why but I've always had a thing about wanting to drive cars
that were around when I wasn't.  I've no idea why but I just like the idea
of driving something that was build before I was even alive.  Plus I think
there's a certain character that older cars have that new ones just don't as
well which makes them more appealing, hence my fascination with the
DeLorean.

Anyway, there you go.  If anyone is a fanatic of the Talbot Solara and wants
to see one in showroom condition then I'm your man.  Don't all Email me at
once though please.
