The work begins...

Quick question before I start poking the engine bay with a large 
spanner...

I'm going to hire/buy an engine stand/crane soon as my Calibra is 
getting an engine overhaul again (yes, again) and after spending some 
time in my D bay today I think I might as well whip that thing out as 
well (I'm surprised how clean my is!). 

My question is; is the gearbox supported by the engine? Can I 
disengage the 'box from the block and leave it in the chassis? 

I'm quite sure the engine will eventually go back in but not before 
I've "had my way" with it first. ;o)
