[doc] John Z. DeLorean for president?

Hm - Neal's suggestion reminded me of something. 

I'm certain I read somewhere that at one time DeLorean himself 
thought of running for president sometime in the future. Of course 
this was in an interview back in the early 80s when things went 
smooth for the DeLorean venture. Can someone enlighten me on where I 
might have read this?

He had many plans, the DMC-80 (bus), the DMC-24 (4-seater), the DMC-
44 (4wheel-drive) plus a possible take over of Chrysler...

Now wouldn't that be something...DeLorean-Chrysler instead of Daimler-
Chrysler ;)

Seriously though - had DeLorean Motor Company succeeded. Do you think 
John himself would have had a fair chance of becoming president if he 
was nominated for one of the parties?

What would he be closest to? Republican or Democrat?
Hypothetical I know...and probably not so car-related...but still...
