[doc] To Lambda or not to Lambda, that is the question.

All.

OK, first an admission. When I first picked up my car I bought the
relay update kit. I also purchased a 'standard car relay' so that my
heater panel only came on with the lights. As a result I ended up
with a 'spare' relay. Due to my error I incorrectly fitted one of my
new 40amp relays into the Lambda socket.

Since then the car ran well, a tune-up by DMUK and lots of gentle
driving and many miles later everything was great. A recent visit by
a fellow member suggested that my car was running rich, but it ran as
well as I thought could be expected.

Last week I finally corrected this error and put a new Bosch relay
back in, I assume that this finally enabled the Lambda circuit, but
as ever I stand ready to be corrected :-)

My what a difference. Once the engine is upto speed my mid range
acceleration is massively improved.

Since the RHD cars don't use the Lambda system at all, and my car
already has the CAT bypass, I am interested in opinions for or
against the Lambda system.

I am VERY happy at the moment. I am not planning on changing anything
on my car (why fix something that isn't broken...)

It may be topic one of our experts can explain, articles on DMCNEWS
include a 'how-to' on eliminating the Lambda but not really what
effects that should have on the car, or indeed what to look out for
if yours isn't working.
