Your biases and prejudices got you on time out once before -- might be best not to let it happen again. 

No one will ever be able to accuse me of taking their money and not delivering a product. 

I may be a very small scale manufacturer, but at $1,000 per iteration the potential for real maleficence -- by someone else (I've done right by 16 other owners over the years, including your friend about 20 miles away) -- is very real.
