Depends upon the frame. My LCA's themselves are indestructible: welded up 1/8" alloy steel, with 1/4" thick spring perches and 1/2" thick ball joint pads. Total weight between them is about 15 lbs. Apparently there is no weight penalty, because every person who drove my car also evaluated it faster than a stock DeLorean.
Do be advised that beefing up the front end causes it to hug the road even better, which makes the rear end even more squirrelly -- one of the drivers almost passed himself in a particularly aggressive turn.
