[DML] High idle (2600 rpm) until temp hits 180 degrees

Is it normal for DeLoreans to idle high upon a cold-start until the temp hits about 180 degrees?  Lately, it takes about 5 minutes after a cold start before my D warms up to 180 degrees and then the idle lowers itself to about 800-900 rpm.  I don't recall this ever happening to me in years past.
