Richard,
One thing to remember, our car is "cutting edge", 1970's technology, that has it's foundations in Europe. Lots of Lucas, lots of British Leyland, and lots of numerous other miscellaneous companies in Europe. That's why some stuff is metric and other is American standard. One thing I have found out---never assume anything about the Delorean, it's a totally different breed.
Now, for those that are wondering, I have the "HOW TO" writeup all finished for the steering rack rebuild. With my wife's help, I'll get all the pictures attached, and then send it off to Martin G. for a look see/proof read. He's working on a rack and I trust his judgment. If I get his okay, then I'll find a way to get it posted to this site, with all the pictures included.
Last item, I wish to thank Matthew S. for his guidance on the removal of the set pins in the steering bar. I'd have screwed everything up if he had not come to my rescue. Thanks Matt.

I worked at a national chain auto parts store... came across a lot of
cores.. mostly power but a fair few manual racks too. The manual ones had
seals too.
