About 99% (I'm not sure that is an exact number) of the air fuel mixture s
controlled via the mechanical side of our fuel injection system.  The Lambda
system tweaks the flow to dial in a more optimal air fuel mixture.  To do
this it monitors the oxygen content in the exhaust gas.  Is it emissions?
Is it fuel economy? Yes.  Is it performance? Yes.
 
The light comes on when the Lambda counter, connected to the speedometer
cable under your dash, trips over 60,000 miles since the last reset.

do? Also, does LAMBDA stand for anything? How can you tell if the 
LAMBDA light on your dash works? Mine has never come on.
