[DML] Cool Thick Stripe Down the Side of the Delorean

Dear DMC friends, 

Question: I have seen 2 variations going across the
side of the Delorean, one is a thin black stripe, the
other is a thick black stripe with the DMC logo, can
someone explain this? Is this a style of a certain
year or just a common detail added on later?
