Yes, Farrar, I've been there too.
- Tap out the pin that holds the latch in place.
- Unwind the spring of the latch a little so it has more force.
- Use two (thing) rings (one on each side of the latch) so it wont
slide sideways.
- Assemble the latch, spring and pin into the louvre.
- See to it that the latch can get a good (full) grip on the striker
bar (too far towards the rear and it wont get a grip, too far towards
the front and 'the striker bar is out of reach.
- Assure the striker bar is not too low or too high otherwise either
no grip or rattling.
- There is a lot of space for the latch on the striker bar; you may
want to get a tighter grip using some plastic around the bar. Also
helps to diminish rattling.
