There was a time for a period of about 3-4 years that I was making 3-4 trips
a year from Tucson to san Jose and I would leave early in the morning and
arrive that night. It was 938 miles and depending on what I was driving it
would take anywhere between 12-16 hours. I find it much easier and less
tiring to drive during daylight hours. It's easier on the eyes.
I was going to drive to DCS and do a 3 day trip (unfortunately my car is not
ready) which is a 2200 mile jaunt. If you are doing a multi day I would
recommend reducing your driving time each day and be sure that for every 2
hours of drive time try to get 1 hour of sleep that night. So if you drive
16 hours straight the first day get a solid 8 hours of sleep that night.
Everyone will vary a bit but it is a good guideline to follow for planning.
Just my opinion from my experience, YMMV.
