Seems like a lot of work to "potentially" save $80 on replacing door struts.
Btw: I saw a movie once where this guy stored a Delorean in an abandoned mine shaft for 70 years, and it was fine when they found it. It only needed new set of white wall tires ;)

If you intend to just store it and not bother it for long
term...don't do it,if you will be starting it up a couple times a
week, then maybe, depending on your garage type and how well it is
sealed...and above all do NOT leave even the smallest traces of food
ANYWHERE in the car...they WILL find it!! I accidentally forgot a
small unopened sack of flour in the trunk in a car I stored(not a "D")
they smelled it...chewed off a plastic plug in the spare tire wheel
well...got in there in the winter months, had a winters feast on the
flour and made a nest out of some of the rear seat insulation...and
as a side effect I found little white paw prints all over my black
interior,(among other "stuff" they left behind)and they stunk it to
high hell..this after I made the interior spotless :( before I stored
it.If you decide to leave the door(s)UP, also leave the trunk open
and REMOVE the carpet cover over the spare tire and remove the spare
tire,But Don't remove the cover where the jack goes...you will never
get the remains of a critter out of there!!!! Also remove the locked
cover behind the seat and if you remove the battery leave the cover
off, leave the glove box door open etc...you will be doing this so as
NOT to give the critters a nice cozy place to nest...since it/they
will be in exposed area(s),I would go as far as removing the seats(if
the doors are to stay in the open position)and store them in a safe
area.Again the main thing is not to give the critters any safety or
security in your Delorean and any reason to use your car as their
domain.By leaving cubby holes fully exposed, they too will feel fully
exposed and unsafe to nest baby critters in your Delorean. Also leave
the engine cover open or they will nest on top of your engine.
Also make sure all your duct work is/are all in the closed
positions, including the dash and the door ducts and the flaps in the
AC/heating system. In the circular duct openings between the door and
the dash area. Use that metallic chrome tape that is used in the AC
industry and NOT duct tape!! Duct tape is basically "cloth tape" with
glue!! Hope this helps.
