Typically you would disassemble before bead-blasting so you can clean
it up and be sure that there is no media in the caliper. If you want
to paint an assembled caliper you can wire brush the outside of it
before painting. Eastwood sells paints used to paint brake calipers
and they offer a choice of colors. Best route, leave it unpainted.
After a while a painted caliper will look worse than an unpainted one.
You will be repainting it after some # of years to keep it looking
good. Of course it is up to your individual preference, it has no
effect on it's performance.
