David, Come on, You have to pull the trans to replace a clutch that has
about 30 to 50K miles on it. The standard seal has wear and it will normally
wear down and leak soon if not sooner. Then to keep from messing up the bell
housing with oil and the garage floor why wouldn't you take the extra time
to replace it.
Remember I have the double lip, lip seal so the groove that is worn or the
rubber that has worn off on the old one will now have a new place to ride on
the shaft and will have to go thru 2 lips to leak.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

If it doesn't appear to be leaking then IMHO it is best not to touch
it unless you have to pull the flywheel to grind it. Then *maybe* it
is worth doing.
