Newbie learker here. I have been thinking the same recently: the search functionality on the groups is seriously deficient and there appear to be no existing servers of this type.

I have experience installing and maintaining mediawiki; the software behind wikipedia. I'd be happy to set up a domain and application if people would find this useful.
