Remember that stock DeLoreans use internally regulated alternators --
if the regulator fails (in either direction), most owners swap out
the entire unit.
BTW: The alternator still needs a good battery to make 13.5 volts.
If your battery is truly dead, the alternator won't produce a charge
no matter what condition it's in.
