[DML] Removing Brake Dust From Rims

The proverbial challenge. Removing brake dust. I have tried lacquer
thinner, acetone, phosphoric acid wheel cleaner, etc.
Nothing has ever worked.
I was cleaning the steering and wheels on the 2015 D and decided to use
some Johnson brand "scrubbing bubbles" tube and tile cleaner that Gail
said I should get rid of. After all, it should just be strong
detergent. Well, it de-solved the 121,000 miles of break dust on the
wheels! It took a number of spray and soak periods, but it really
worked. The rims are clean and shinny.
As for the creases in the rims. Again, a number of spray coatings and
then using a rag on the end of a screw driver and the brake dust
scrubbed off the inside spaces. The rims look almost new.
I can't wait to try in on the stock D this spring. Finally, something
that removes brake dust!
