Hi David,
I always thought the "black cars" were so-called because they were
simply black underbodies without stainless panels bolted on? To
actually produce plastic panels would have meant setting up some form
of tooling to create them and I can't really envisage that DMCL did
that, both in terms of costing and practicality.
