When my original angle drive turned into spaghetti, I cut off the
damaged section and replaced it with square tubing. Worked well at
slower speeds, but on the highway the spindle cable unwound again
where the brass tubing ended. I ran another piece of tubing all the
way to the gear housing, but the cable simply broke off (I've got a
little 1/4" nub remaining, which spins the gears with a pair of needle
nose pliers so they have survived). I was going to try to remove the
disc at the end of the housing (what is the best way to get that thing
out anyway?) and attach a new cable WOUND IN THE SAME DIRECTION AS
PRIMARY WHEEL ROTATION, but found a used intact drive in the interim
so my great angle drive rebuilding project has fallen by the wayside.
I'll pick it up again when the current unit turns to spaghetti.
