My solution to many DeLorean related problems, 'Replace It'. The antenna that is.
I did a search on the DeLorean Mailing List for antenna and this is what I came up with

Re: Antenna
On how your powered antenna is wired back there in the left rear pontoon all depends on
whether is was an originally installed factory antenna or installed many years later by a
previous owner of your D since they may have not liked it sticking out of the right front
quarter panel.
My early VIN 02261 used to have the antenna built into the windshield. Now I have the
powered black mast antenna hidden inside the rear left pontoon.
Mark R. Vanyo.
P.S. DeLorean Motor Company tried three different variations of antenna placement. The
first attempt was an antenna built into the windshield. The second attempt was a fixed
antenna in the right front quarter panel. The third and last attempt was hidden inside the
left rear pontoon.
Oh, and congratulations on purchasing a D!

and can do most work myself on my car with proper instructions. I have an '82 model, and
my antenna has been working fine until recently, and it doesn't retract after I turn the car
or the radio off.
