[DML] Condensation in the fuel pump boot

Hi,
 
This is something that has puzzled me for a while and I though I had it
sorted until I lifted the fuel pump cover recently.
 
I am finding I get a build up of water over the top of the fuel pump which I
am putting down to condensation as I have stopped driving the car in wet
weather and have the cover over the pump.
 
Has anyone else ever discovered this (or perhaps it has not been noticed
because you need to remove the cover to see it) and if so how can I prevent
it.  There was approximately 1.inches of water there and the connections on
the pump had become corroded.
 
I realise that this is a big problem because of the possible fuel
contamination issues but just don't know how to rectify it.
