Andy, the switch is just that - a switch. You need to test continuity
with the tranny in reverse. See if your meter bleeps when you touch both
pins. There is an in-line two-pin connector in the engine bay where the
reverse light loom attaches to the main engine loom, and there's also
the multi-way under the coil cover to check.
Interestingly I have swapped out a fair few failed switches in my time.
I was told categorically that the GTA reverse light switch "never
fails". Wierd, seeing as it's the same switch in the same place (rear
engine)
