Hmmm ... don't know if the Grumman patent is specific to a suspension
... to me it sounded like a claim on the process of manufacturing the
bars. The suspension references may only be example of their practical
application.
I think DMC might hold a patent on the use of a torsion bar on a
vertically opening car door. (See link)
