If the scratches are deep enough to catch your fingernail you have to
remove too much glass to get them out and you will cause a noticable
distortion when you look through the glass. Not recomended. There are
acrylic repair systems that can be used on some scratches. In every
big city there is someone that repairs glass cracks and scratches.
Look in the Yellow Pages under glass.
