I do a similar storage routine (New Jersey) but I use a big battery
disconnect with a key (I got it from Hervey). I haven't had any
problems. I have a red-top Optima that's a little over two years old.
The last two winters I have usually been able to fire it up and drive
it a few miles once a month or so.
As for the Lojack - you can wire and fuse around the cut-off and put
in a mechanical motion sensor that activates and provides power for
an hour or two if the car is moved or tilted and keeps activated as
long as the car has any motion. I have seen this on an alpine alarm
set up and it worked great.
