Not sure if this is the same thing, I use an FM modulator with my ipod and I
love it.  I can finally play whatever music I want and I can keep my
historically-correct radio.

The ipod is so not my generation, but it's pretty cool and the modulator
doesn't give me any problems or interference issues.
