I agree that a 'small' amount of tape (ie one turn or so) will get
cut through by the 'threads'on the sensor, but on a thermal time
switch that i was asked to look at recently as being faulty,
wasnt ,it was merely not grounding due to the amount of teflon / ptfe
tape that was used.
