I've driven several long trips and never had an issue with this setup. The
way it's hooked up, the cruise control system is incapable of pulling the
throttle enough for the stock cable to fall off. This also means the cruise
can't pull wide open throttle which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned
(safety). This does not limit your ability to use the cruise at highway
speeds (or even well above, for that matter).
