Mark's right, there's a short somewhere. The most benign place is in
the wire itself. Perhaps there's a bare spot worn in the red wire that
goes to the clutch. Look around, especially near where the wire dives
down between the compressor body and the clutch. Failing that, you will
need to replace the clutch, at least. We don't sell compressor clutches
by themselves, but rather complete compressor/clutch assemblies for $195
outright. You get a new, late style accumulator and orfice tube with.
It's the best deal we got.
