My experience of disintegrated cats is the innards get blown in to the 
muffler where they continue working and get cvery hot. This usually 
results in a characteristic bulge at the lower middle of the back 
fascia. We have a car in at the moment which has had this problem for so 
long that the bulge is massive and the epoxy has actually cracked and 
fallen off the centre section of the rear of the chassis
