You should continue to check around - maybe a BMW dealer. There are
many cars these days that require special wheel equipment balance a
wheel and tire and especially mount tires on wheels. You have to
find the folks that are doing the newer cars though or specialty
wheels.
The new equipment can balance perfectly, with weights hidden, and
the newer changers can mount tires on a wheel without touching the
rim.
I have the smoothest riding D I have owned in twenty five years -
all done on Hunter equipment GPS 9700 and TC 3500. There are
no "plates" - they used a special mount and shim that clamped in the
lug nut holes - never touched the rim. I have had all my cars done
with that equipment and I could not be happier with the results.
Check out the equipment: http://www.hunter.com/
Be sure to watch the flash demo.
BTW - IMHO, on the car balancing is a waste of time and $. Been
there, done that.

metal plate to clamp down on the rim? Every place I have seen uses
this spin on plate that when tightened down on a rim leaves a gouge
or scratch mark on the face of the rim.
