Darryl Tinnerset broke his.. He had a supercharged
Chevy engine. You can check the archives of the DML
to read about it, but it inspired him to have a custom
made input-shaft coupler which I think Toby may still
own the drawings of.
Kyle claims to have broken his, he has a Chevy small
block conversion.
I am running a Porsche 915 trans, so I hope I don't
have to worry about trans problems.
FWIW, I think Dave was using the 200HP number as to
what the transmission can RELIABLY handle considering
if you were dealing with factory warranty issues. If
we accept as fact (and I can't say it is) that they
break at 300HP, then for design purposes you would
want to keep a good margin below the maximum.
Considering the Island TT kit was meant to be used on
automatic and manual transmissions, 200 is a good
target number. The automatic transmission probably
can't handle much more.
