Hello,
I have encountered EXACTLY the same thing, I felt sick afterwards.
I repaired it myself nearly flawlessly. The only visual cues of the
repair are on the underside and you can't see them unless the louver
is raised. If you live in or around Southern California I can repair
them for you for a small fee. Certainly smaller than the cost of a
new louver!
