Quite frankly, I think my 180A already had problems when it arrived.
There were some odd issues - for example, when I disconnected the
sense wire during troubleshooting, it still charged (!). I know I
hooked it up correctly; I even called the vendor to double-check and
they agreed with the manner in which I had wired it.

Turns out I didn't have electrical problems - although tightening the
grounds did make a very slight difference in power transmission - just
a flaky alternator.
