Moisture is generally what causes most leathers to shrink, especially when
combined with heat. Over time the humidity in the air is enough to slowly
shrink the leather down and remove the ripples in seats. Actually that's one
of the primary reasons most leather seats have wrinkles to begin with. If
they started out completely taunt, the seats would break the stitching in
just a few years as the leather shrank. The reason the NOS seat
covers haven't shrank is because they were most likly bagged and boxed,
which will greatly limit the humidity they're subjected to. Also while KAPAC
and your own warehouse wasn't temperature controlled, they most likly never
get nearly as hot as the interior of a car sitting out in the sun.
