[DML] cleaning and polishing of D

Hi:

I'm a new owner of a D (6944) a little over a month.  Can anyone give me the best method of cleaning and polishing my new baby?  I know that they have stainless steel cleaner in spray cans (expensive) is there a better method?
Any ideas will be most appreciated.
