I've witnessed the same phenomenon when cleaning up a fuel tank baffle
assembly complete with original pickup hose by soaking it in acetone.
The hose was quite funny when it came out being about the size of a
small cucumber... (hadn't planned on re-using it anyway but I was just
being lazy :-)
