Yes, I do remember reading that procedure on the SHO
web site some years ago.. I have had my SHO engine
apart a few times, and have never had to use that
method.
With any of these bolts, I always assume I will at
some point in the future be removing the same bolts
again. For that reason, I think it is important to
use the proper torque specification even on joints
that are non critical. The bolt itself has limits.
