AFAIK, the only proof at the time when the car was new, was the info
printed on the actual window sticker!
If memory serves me right, doesn't the sticker state the engine
number, VIN number and frame number?
So it is really an important historical document.
Too bad that some cars are missing their original window sticker. I
guess that is the result of some DeLoreans having changed hands often.
Btw - what is the procedure with a window sticker in the US?
Is it a paper originally meant for the car dealer, or is it common to
get the window sticker with the purchase of a car? Or do you have to
ask for it specifically in order to get it?
I've always been under the impression that a window sticker is really
an info-sheet for dealer (when the car gets delivered to the dealer),
not something you would ask for really.
Best wishes
