Sounds as if the diode tree that's supposed to prevent this sort of
thing has been bypassed, or perhaps one of the diodes has shorted. I've
not ever seen that. Those diodes are in the relay compartment and are
associated with the orange/black wires. The circuit is shown in the
heating and A/C section of the workshop manual.
