I'd like to hear the answer to this, too. I already have some front
suspension work to do and might as well do the ball joints while I'm
at it.

Mine are almost certainly original. If they could last 25 years, I'm
not going to settle for new ones that have to be replaced in 3. Who
sells ball joints that should last me another 25 years?
