The fact that the car was gone as long as it was, and only suffered some
interior gutting kind of leads me to believe the thieves didn't really know
what the car was in the first place, and they gave up on it when they
figured out there wasn't really a market for many of the parts. If they had
known what it was and which parts were most valuable, then the thieves
probably wouldn't have destroyed the upper dash as it is a scarce part..
The left front fender would probably be missing as well.. From the fact
that the original recovery email said other cars were found there that had
been stolen more recently, and had been comletely gutted kinda tells me
that the thieves just abandoned the D in favor of cars that they could more
easily unload parts from..
