[DML] 3.8 liter GM engines

Why is it that when I talk to local mechanics, they believe that the 
standard engine for the Delorean is a 3.8 liter GM or Ford engine.  
They seem surprised when I tell them that the standard engine is the 
PRV.  Was there some literature or publicity that said otherwise, or 
were there cars with different engines in them?
