Steve, as long as the car is off (and you have disconnected the
battery - of course) you won't have any pressure in the fuel lines.

As for spilled fuel, my best advise is to wear eye protection and keep
your mouth closed!  You won't drain the car by removing the
accumulator, so don't worry about a giant mess.

The absolute best way to replace the fuel accumulator, is to get your
car on a lift.  Out here in AZ we have a small shop that rents their
lifts to us for $16 an hour.  A small price to pay for a cramped job.
