The lads here always put the jack cradle on one or another of the frame 
crossmembers and put the whole end of the car in the air.  It's not as 
comfortable as a lift, but for some jobs: oil change, clutch line, 
back-up switch, even an angle drive, it can be quicker.  Pad the cradle 
with a towel or thick cardboard to keep from scratching the epoxy.
