[DML] refinishing windshield trim

Group,

I am looking for info on refinishing my three exterior windshield trim parts. 
I am ordering new pads for the sides and new A-pillar weatherstripping too.  

What is the best way to repaint these?
Should I remove the old paint first? any suggestions how?
Do I prime the strips first?
What kind of paint do I use when I am done?  I want it to look OEM.
