I've been following this thread for a while and it is starting to
get a little bit ugly. However, I am going to have to agree with
Robert on this one. If you say you can get a good amount of power
out of the engine then prove it. It is easy for me SAY that my
engine outputs 250 bhp without turbo or supercharging it, and since
no one else but me drives my car everyone else has no choice but to
take my word for it and ask me how I did it only for me to say
that's gonna cost you.
We are all in the same boat (most of us) with the PRV and would like
to get some horsepower without swapping the engine and trans. This
car is unique and the PRV is one of those things that makes it
unique, but the 130 HP in today's world of driving is not enough. I
got forced off of the freeway on Saturday because I couldn't get
around an 18 wheeler fast enough and he started to move over and
couldn't see me.
DMCH will swap my current engine with a new crate PRV with their
stage mods for $6225. I went to a Bill Heard Chevy in Vegas a
couple of months ago and they said that they would give me an
automatic Corvette trans and a 350 ci HO Deluxe engine (completely
assembled, carb, water pump, belts, etc.) for $5000. This engine is
actually physically smaller than the PRV but gives me 350 HP. For
a new engine and trans that gives more HP at a lower cost than a new
Stage 2 PRV and no new transmission, I will gladly deviate from
stock. And I can even tune that engine to get me 400 HP without
turbo charging it in any way.
I would be perfectly content with my PRV if I could get it past the
210 hp mark and someone would say how, but until then, I'm probably
gonna dump it and sell it.
